This book is the first book in the series of The Adventures of Reese and Rufus. In this book, we tell the story of how our daughter met her favorite stuffed animal, Rufus, who would later become her comfort during each medical encounter. We use age-appropriate vocabulary and realistic pictures to reduce the fear that children experience in unfamiliar environments like the emergency room. As I created ways to decrease my daughter's anxiety, I thought that every family should be able to do the same. Additionally, my books promote the representation of healthcare providers from historically underrepresented minority groups.
